Who is Merlin?
Before Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Merlin is the Nightsister of Dathomir, an ancient organization of magical warriors living on the planet Dathomir.
During the Clone Wars, when Merlin was young, General Grievous came to Dathomir and slaughtered the night people. Although Merlin survived, the Nightsister Iliana, who loved Merlin, was killed.
Shortly thereafter, Jedi Master Taron Malikos landed on Dathomir following the events of Order 66. When he arrived, Merlin asked him to leave, but realizing Dathomir's potential, Malycus stayed.
Out of impatience, Brother Night, the Nightsister's valet, decides to kill Marikos, despite Merlin's orders to let him go.

However, due to Dathomir's dark influence and the anger he felt after Order 66, Malyx succumbed to the dark side. He succeeded in turning the Night Brothers against each other and assassinating their leader, Brother Viscus.
Then Marikos turned his attention to Merlin, who he wanted to steal his magic from. He manipulated her into believing that the Jedi were responsible for Grievous' attack and had her teach him magic.
Of course, all of this is portrayed in the game by the excellent actor Merlin. Luckily, it returns in the sequel along with several othersMore familiar faces and experienced voice actors!
During Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Years after Marikos manipulated Marin, Cal Kestis came to Dathomir. Marikos instructs Merlin to get rid of Kesti, but her attempts to get him to leave are unsuccessful.
Kestis then met Marikos, who revealed that he was a former Jedi. Marikos begged Kestis to aid him in his quest for power, but he refused.
Confused by Marikos' desire to welcome a Jedi Knight, Marin still believes he was responsible for Evenstar's death, so she confronts him. However, he soon realized that he was a Jedi Knight and raised an army of the undead Nightsisters to kill him and Kestis.
However, when Kestis later fled back to Dathomir after Merlin killed him, he convinced her that the Jedi were not evil and were not responsible for their Nightsisters' deaths.

He then duels Marikos with the help of Merlin and her magic. Together they buried him alive and defeated him.
Merlin then agrees to join Kestis and help him in his quest to find the holocron. Together with the Mantis crew, they located and destroyed the holocron.
